What are the characteristics of solvent ink?

The pictures usually made of water-based ink are mainly used indoors because of
poor weather resistance. In the field of outdoor application, solvent-based ink was
basically used in the early stage. The main component of solvent-based ink is organic
solvent. Generally, ester and ketone solvents are used. In the process of combining
with the media, the media is first swelled, then fused, and the colorant in the ink is
closely combined with the substrate. Therefore, solvent-based ink does not require
the media to be coated, and its volatilization speed is fast, which can meet the
requirements of high-speed printing. However, the biggest problem of solvent-based
ink is environmental protection. Because of the high content of volatile organic
matter in ink, it will definitely be subject to many restrictions in the long run.
Eco solvent ink is developed in this situation. First, it is used on the high-precision
Epson nozzle. Take Mimaki's JV3 as an example. The image accuracy produced by
eco solvent ink is comparable to that of water-based ink. It can also be applied to
the uncoated substrate. It can also prevent UV rays and is suitable for outdoor use.
So it quickly becomes the darling of a new generation of spray painting.
Compared with solvent-based ink, the biggest change of weak solvent ink is its
environmental friendliness, which is mainly reflected in the reduction of volatile matter
VOC and the absence of many toxic organic solvents, and the absence of ventilation
devices in the production workshop of weak solvent inkjet.

Compared with water-based ink, eco solvent ink not only maintains the advantages of
high accuracy of the picture produced by water-based ink, but also overcomes
the disadvantages of water-based ink, such as its harsh requirements on the substrate
and the inability of the picture produced to be used outdoors. Therefore, eco solvent ink
is between water-based ink and solvent-based ink, taking into account the advantages of both.
However, many of these inks still have odor problems, and their adhesion needs to be improved,
including some additives that may threaten health. While continuously improving ink performance
and application, we should also pay more attention to environmental protection and health issues.
